Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Major Gifts Officer I for the Georgia 4-H Foundation in Athens to lead major gift strategies, cultivate donors, and advance fundraising priorities for statewide programs.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the role emphasizes building relationships, managing a donor portfolio, coordinating events, and working evenings and weekends as needed. A Bachelor's degree is required; travel and a valid driver's license are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Experience in fundraising, marketing, or sales.
• Excellent oral and written communication and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Build lifelong relationships with donors, matching interests to Georgia 4-H needs and securing funds.
• Develop prospect plans, draft proposals, cultivate and solicit donors.
• Solicit and steward major gifts ($25k-$1M) and manage a portfolio.
• Conduct monthly face-to-face donor meetings; track in CRM.
• Prepare proposals, presentations, fundraising materials; report to supervisor.
• Enter reports in GAIL after visits; follow up and thank donors.
