The incumbent performs a broad range of skilled maintenance, repair, inspection, equipment operation, and dam-operation functions that directly support the integrity of project infrastructure, public safety, and continued availability of Corps-managed facilities.

Major Duties
  • Maintain and repair critical project infrastructure and facilities by performing skilled work across multiple trades, including mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, and welding, on dams, gate houses, restrooms, storage buildings, park facilities, utility systems, and related structures.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment such as hydraulic gates and systems, gate hoists, gear boxes, cranes, elevators, pumps, generators, water systems, and gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment; perform routine maintenance and minor repairs and identify conditions requiring higher-level technical or supervisory attention.
  • Operate heavy equipment, vehicles, and vessels in support of construction, maintenance, transportation, and project operations, including graders, dozers, backhoes, trucks, tractors, forklifts, motorboats, work barges, and related equipment; safely transport, load, secure, and unload equipment and materials.
  • Support dam and flood-control operations by collecting and reporting weather and water-storage data, taking gage readings, making authorized gate settings, monitoring dam equipment and indicators, conducting routine inspections, maintaining operating logs, replacing charts, and promptly reporting unusual conditions or significant equipment malfunctions.
  • Inspect contractor and service-provider performance for maintenance, minor construction, janitorial, waste-removal, mowing, paving, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other contracted services; evaluate workmanship, materials, equipment, timeliness, safety compliance, and adherence to contract requirements, and document deficiencies and follow-up inspections.
  • Maintain water, sewer, and other utility systems and support preventive maintenance programs by repairing or replacing pumps, valves, faucets, waterlines, hydrants, drains, and related components; collecting water samples; maintaining system drawings, records, inventories, and spare parts; and coordinating with supervisors and project personnel through mobile radio communications.
