Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Maintenance Worker, PRN (As Needed Basis) to join our secure facility team. The role involves installing, maintaining and repairing building systems, including plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery and grounds, and supervising inmates/residents as assigned.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of maintenance or construction experience, a valid driver's license, and be at least 18 years old.

• Additional technical/trade courses may substitute for required experience.
• Knowledge of building systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair building structures and systems in a secure facility.
• Inspect and diagnose machinery; replace parts and test operation after repair.
• Install and repair electrical components of machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance as directed by supervisor.
• Supervise and track inmates/residents assigned to Maintenance Department.

The Maintenance Worker, PRN (As Needed Basis). installs, maintains and repairs the facility's building structures and systems, including plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery, equipment, electronics, vehicles and grounds.

• Maintain and repair physical structure of facility in keeping with safe and secure operations of the facility.
• Inspect and listen to machines and equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Dismantle defective or malfunctioning machines and equipment, installs new or repaired parts, and tests operation following repair.
• Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to the preventative maintenance plan or as directed by supervisor. Clean and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other machinery.
• Provide for the proper supervision and tracking of inmates/residents assigned to the Maintenance Department. Escort inmates/residents or coordinates the movement of inmates/residents to and from different areas.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
• Two years of experience in general maintenance or construction is required.
• Additional equivalent technical/trade school courses in a maintenance or construction related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Knowledge of building construction and the operation of building systems is preferred.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
