Job summary

Isle of Wight County is seeking an HVAC and Electrical Maintenance Technician to service county facilities in Windsor, VA. The role requires strong HVAC and electrical skills and knowledge of lockout-tagout and arc flash safety procedures.

The incumbent will perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and installations for building renovations while following county safety policies. This position is benefits eligible and requires maintaining safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Prior OSHA Safety and electrical safety training preferred
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of County HVAC/Electrical systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all County HVAC/Electrical systems.
• Installation of components/systems associated with building renovation projects.
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to an employee’s work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
• Performs other assigned duties.

Examples of Duties

• Maintenance and repair of County HVAC/Electrical systems;
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all County HVAC/Electrical systems.
• Installation of components/systems associated with building renovation projects
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to an employee’s work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
• Performs other assigned duties.

Physical Demands

The work is medium work requiring exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the ability to crouch, grasp, handle objects, hear, lift, pull, push, reach, and utilize mental acuity.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Three (3) years of related work experience;

• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Licenses/Certifications

• Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• CFC Certification

Employees will either be deemed essential personnel and provide services that must continue regardless of or pursuant to a state of emergency or will be deemed nonessential personnel that will be required to report to work in an emergency if they receive an assignment to shelter duty or other duty.
