Job summary

City of Iowa City is seeking a skilled worker to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment used in the maintenance of City streets. You will perform street construction and maintenance tasks under general direction.

The full-time, permanent position offers a salary range of $55,764.80 to $72,196.80, with starting wage contingent upon experience, plus a Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm schedule. A valid Iowa CDL and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2 years of related experience.
• Experience in construction and maintenance.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Possess Iowa CDL Class A with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and federal drug testing.
• Must be 18+ and pass background check.
• Must live within 25 miles of Iowa City within 1 year.

• Associates degree from an accredited educational institution; or two years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in construction and maintenance.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Valid State of Iowa commercial drivers license instruction permit upon first day in position.
• Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial drivers license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire.
• Meet federal drug testing requirements.
• Requires a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.
