Job summary

Champaign Unit 4 School District is seeking a maintenance/grounds professional to support diverse facilities needs year-round at our Champaign campus. The role requires physical work, tool-handling skills, and the ability to respond to after-hours calls as needed.

You'll work under the Champaign Educational Support Professionals Collective Bargaining Agreement with compensation based on experience. Valid Illinois licenses and pesticide operator credentials are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or compensating experience.
• Good human relations and communication skills.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Illinois Class C driver’s license.
• Must hold or be able to obtain an Illinois Department of Agriculture Pesticide Operator license.
• Ability to use standard hand and power tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• General familiarity with all listed trade areas and advanced knowledge in at least two: general contracting/maintenance, irrigation, paving, equipment operation, turf care, landscaping, playground equipment.
• Ability to climb a ladder and work overhead.
• Ability to build scaffolding and use lift equipment properly.
• Ability to lift objects in excess of 50 pounds.
• Willingness to respond to after-hours calls and work overtime during peak times.

Compensation

• The hourly wage for this position is determined based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Educational Support Professionals, which is available on our website. The District gives experienced employees up to 20 years of experience credit for service outside the District if it is directly related to their position. 100% of an employee's contributions to IMRF are currently paid by the Board of Education. The Board also pays 100% of employee-only health, vision, and term life insurance. Dental is also available at competitive rates to interested employees. There are opportunities for employees to earn additional compensation during the regular school year and in the summer.
