Job summary

The Arc Eastern Connecticut is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform regular maintenance and upkeep of all Arc facilities in Norwich, CT. You will conduct preventive and emergency repairs under the Director of Facilities and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, in Norwich, CT. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of experience, a valid driver's license, and broad-based trades knowledge including carpentry, plumbing,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance for duration of employment.
• Must possess basic competency in English (verbal and written).
• Broad-based experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, landscaping, appliance repair, snow removal, roofing, and flooring.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth monthly inspections for each residential facility and forward a progress report to the supervisor.
• Clean gutters as needed.
• Assist with landscaping as needed.
• Install and repair appliances as needed.
• Assemble and move furniture.
• Perform general plumbing, electrical, carpentry (unlicensed) as needed; schedule licensed personnel as necessary.
• Repair and replace ceiling tiles; patch roof as necessary.
• Install and repair closet doors.
• Repair broken windows and doors.
• Repair and install internal and external lighting.
• Perform interior and exterior maintenance as needed.
• Apply stain to decking as needed.
• Perform snow removal, sanding, and shoveling at Arc facilities during inclement weather; keep walkways clear.
• Meet with Fire Marshal for annual inspections at the homes.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Maintenance Worker - FT

Full-time Regular Norwich, CT, US

Description: Maintenance will be responsible for regular maintenance and upkeep of all Arc owned/leased facilities. You will perform preventive and emergency repairs as needed. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, you will ensure that all agency facilities comply with regulatory, fire, OSHA, and health safety requirements. You will adhere to the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut Board of Directors whose goal is to maintain full community inclusion and integration for all individuals who are supported by The Arc Eastern Connecticut.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

Location: Norwich, CT

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma).
• Minimum of two years’ experience
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance for duration of employment. They will be required to obtain pertinent certifications throughout the duration of his/her employment. Must possess basic competency in English (verbal and written).
• Must have broad-based experience in the following trades: Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, landscaping, appliance repair, snow removal, roofing, and flooring
• The Maintenance employee must be able to lift, push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds. You will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention when necessary. You may be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.

Essential Functions:

• Will perform snow removal, sanding, and shoveling at designated Arc facilities in the event of inclement weather. Will ensure that all walkways are clear and free of ice hazards.
• Will meet with Fire Marshal for annual inspections at the homes.
• Will perform other duties as directed.

• Will comply with OSHA safety regulations.
• Will use personal vehicle as necessary/maintaining driver’s license, insurance and personal vehicle.
