Job summary

Chester County in West Chester, PA is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance on county-owned buildings and equipment, and to keep grounds orderly.

Duties include maintaining plumbing and electrical systems, responding to emergencies, installing new equipment, painting interior and exterior surfaces, and handling special projects as needed. A valid driver's license is required; background checks may be required.

Qualifications

Job description

The Maintenance Worker will perform various routine repairs, maintenance and installation of operational equipment necessary to keep county-owned property and equipment in a functional and orderly manner. This position will maintain and repair physical structures of buildings and maintain grounds by performing the following duties.

Criminal background check may be required.

State Child Abuse Clearance may be required.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance (i.e., maintain and repair building's plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses).
• Respond to emergency breakdown of equipment.
• Install new equipment.Perform routine procedures in the daily operation of the sewage plant (Pocopson).
• Paint interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.
• Strong mechanical ability.
• Ability to operate light and heavy tools and machinery.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds.
