Job summary

US National Park Service is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Maintenance Division at Joshua Tree National Park. The position may require working on-call and outside regular hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work.

Applicants must meet basic qualifications and be prepared to describe related experience and training. A valid driver’s license and uniform compliance with a provided uniform allowance are required.

  • You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority.
  • You must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with specified conditions.

Job description

You will serve as a Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Maintenance Division with Joshua Tree National Park.

You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

  • You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.
  • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Materials
