Job summary

Fairfield Inn & Suites Charleston Airport Convention Center is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to keep guest areas in excellent condition. You will perform repairs, maintenance, and safety checks to ensure a comfortable stay for guests and support operations across all hotel departments.

The role requires basic maintenance experience, physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in a hotel or property management setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for the shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on PTAC/HVAC equipment, furniture, appliances, lighting, and plumbing.
• Conduct interior and exterior painting, landscaping, and parking lot repairs.
• Troubleshoot devices such as key card systems, internet equipment, and televisions.
• Execute routine safety inspections and report or repair equipment or system issues.
• Respond to guest requests with urgency and a service mindset.
• Support hotel goals through teamwork and collaboration with all departments.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all guest requests with a sense of urgency and service frame of mind.

Qualifications

Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or property management setting is preferred. To be successful in this role, you need basic verbal and written communication skills. This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50 pounds. You must also be able to stand and walk for an entire shift. Previous technical training or job experience is a plus. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.

• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
