Job summary

Montgomery Co KY Maintenance in Mt Sterling, Kentucky is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction of district buildings and equipment. • Maintain records of time, costs, and materials used in maintenance and repair of facilities.
• Operate a wide variety of tools and equipment including vehicles, mowing equipment, power hand tools, and hand tools.
• Contact Lead Maintenance Worker or Director of District Operations when no assignment is available.
• Prepare and report information on work performed and recommend equipment purchases over $50.
• Inspect school plants regularly to identify needed repairs or improvements; address safety hazards as needed.

MAINTENANCE WORKER

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic general knowledge in as many of the following as possible: plumbing, commercial electricity, mechanics, masonry and carpentry.

REPORTS: Assistant Superintendent/Designee

SUPERVISES: Part-time maintenance workers and Summer Youth Workers as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

JOB GOAL: To carry out maintenance work assignments in such a way that schools' physical environments will be maintained in a condition of operating excellence.

BASIC FUNCTION: Perform semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction of District buildings and equipment; perform semi-skilled to skilled work in one or more of the building maintenance trades; assist journey-level trades personnel as needed, work independently in one of the less complex building trades.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repairs, and construction of District buildings and equipment in one or more of the building maintenance trades including carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
• Maintains records of time, costs, and materials needed in the maintenance and repair of District equipment and facilities.
• Operates a wide variety of tools and equipment including motor vehicles and mowing equipment, power hand tools, saws, and hand tools used in the building maintenance trades.
• Works on assigned duties first, but when without an assignment, contacts the Lead Maintenance Worker and/or the Director of District Operations.
• Prepares and reports information on work assignments accomplished and make recommendations to the Lead Maintenance Worker for equipment purchases exceeding $50.00.
• Examines school plants on a regular basis to check for needed repairs and improvements. Repairs obvious safety hazards or meets emergencies even if the work has not been assigned.
• Reports to work even beyond normal working hours, when emergency situations occur, such as snow removal, broken water pipes, electrical problems, etc.
• Mows, weed eats, and waters grounds as assigned.
• Perform gardening and landscaping duties on school grounds including planting flowers and applying mulch.
• Prune and trim trees, hedges and shrubs, apply herbicides and pesticides; rakes leaves and removes trash; sweep walkways; and assist in the preparation and lining of athletic fields as assigned.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head Maintenance Worker, the Assistant Superintendent or the Superintendent.
