LAKE RIDGE NEW TECH SCHOOLS is seeking a Maintenance/Grounds Worker to care for school facilities and grounds on a 260-day, full-time schedule. The role includes general maintenance, HVAC oversight to provide heat and cooling, and keeping outdoor areas neat, safe, and well‑maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
Schedule: Weekdays, 6:00am–3:00pm. Duties include repairing and servicing machinery, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems; mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and maintaining tools
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Type: Full-Time / 260 Days / Classified/Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Facilities
Evaluated By: Director of Facilities
Evaluation Frequency: Annually
Schedule: Works weekdays Monday through Friday: Day Shift (6:00am-3:00pm)
Keeps school buildings and grounds in clean, orderly, safe, and operational condition and tends to HVAC Systems to provide heat, cool or fresh air, and hot water for students, faculty, staff, and visitors and keeps external grounds neat, clean and safe and possess the ability to use tools and equipment necessary to carry out this job assignment.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to operate all custodial cleaning equipment, particularly floor care equipment; ability to work on ladders; ability to run and maintain snow blowers, lawn mowers and other lawn care equipment; ability to safely work on scaffolding, and lifts; knowledge in electricity (run and test circuits, etc.) plumbing, carpentry, gas powered motors, pumps, tractors, trucks, snowplowing, roofing, and blueprint reading; ability to relate well to other employees, students, parents and community members.
The building principal, supervisor or designee shall make daily work assignments for maintenance personnel.These assignments shall not be limited to an employee's specific skill.
