Lactalis American Group in the United States is seeking a Maintenance Welder and Fabricator to support a cheese plant across production and packaging equipment. The role requires TIG and stick welding, metal fabrication, and blueprint reading, with a focus on precision and safety.

The ideal candidate will have trade-school welding training, experience in metal fabrication and blueprint reading, and a stable work history; knowledge of Maximo is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Support maintenance EMTs with emergency breakdowns and daily work.
• Support plant departments through corrective maintenance and projects.

• Pipefitting, including installation, repair and replacement.
• Check stock levels, request parts, and verify receipt.
• Complete work orders and PMs in Maximo.
• Maintain, clean and organize the work area.
• Communicate openly with colleagues and managers.
• Attend meetings and training as assigned.
• Perform other duties as needed.

The Maintenance Welder and Fabricator is responsible for a variety of tasks that requires knowledge of TIG welding, fabricating, supporting all departments of a cheese plant.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Support and assist maintenance EMT’s with emergency breakdowns and daily work.
• Support plant departments through corrective maintenance and projects.
• Operate shop equipment and machinery with acceptable precision and accuracy.
• Pipefitting, including installation, repair, replacement.
• Check stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts and supplies; place requests to Maintenance Buyer for needed parts and then verify receipt of.
• Complete reasonable job layouts and ordering of materials necessary to complete job.
• Accurately complete work orders and PMs in Maximo, including checking out of parts.
• Maintain, clean and organize work area.
• Maintain open line of communication with co-workers and managers.
• Attend departmental meetings and training as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
• Perform other work duties as assigned.
• Maintain production aids for production.

The ideal candidate must have the following attributes/skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy, personal qualities of tact and dependability, possess good manual dexterity, vision abilities (close, distance color and ability to focus ), able to push/pull/lift and carry at least 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds with assistance, be able to stand for entire shift, be able to perform repetitive movements (e.g. twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching, climbing) and must be able to work approximately 24 hours per week (occasional weekends may be required).

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education & Experience

• Trade School level of welding or equivalent.
• Metal fabrication, TIG welding, stick welding, and blueprint reading
• Previous employment in a food industry setting is preferred
• Stable work history required

Specialized Knowledge

• Computer software and basic mathematical skills are required (must be able to convert US to metric, read a tape measure, caliper and micrometer)

Skills / Abilities

• Troubleshooting, critical thinking, and complex problem solving is a priority
• Ability to perform routine welding and fabrication for production and packaging equipment
• Ability to work in a food industry or manufacturing environment
• English Language- ability to effectively communicate verbally and written

The ideal candidate will be proactive and dynamic, flexible and receptive to new ideas, down to earth and pragmatic, analytical and attentive to detail. He or she will also be capable of working independently in adherence to regulations, of managing stress and remaining calm under pressure, and be able to demonstrate an inquiring mind and well-developed observational skills. Will demonstrate a sense of responsibility and high professional standards, honesty and integrity, and objectivity.

Base Pay: $32.05 to $35.35/hour, dependent upon skills and experience. Weekend premium: 20% more ($6.41/hour to $7.07/hour). Lactalis offers very competitive pay, benefits and paid time off.
