Job summary

Yellowstone Local is partnered with Hecla Limited, Lucky Friday Mine, to recruit a Maintenance Training Lead for the underground operation in Mullan, Idaho. The role focuses on developing and delivering comprehensive maintenance training across mobile equipment, fixed plant, electrical, and mill operations, including train-the-trainer programs and SOP development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of operational experience in an industrial environment.
• Demonstrated safety leadership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information and deliver training in classroom and hands-on environments.
• Ability to organize training schedules, documentation, and employee training records.
• MSHA Blue Card certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of maintenance training across mobile equipment, fixed plant, electrical, and mill operations.
• Develop, administer, and maintain maintenance training plans and programs.
• Deliver classroom, initial, task, equipment, and underground equipment training for maintenance employees and new hires.
• Partner with Foremen and Supervisors to identify training needs and develop trainers.
• Develop and oversee a train-the-trainer program for peer training.
• Evaluate trainer effectiveness and adjust participation as needed.
• Maintain training documentation, including sign-in sheets and training matrices.
• Audit training programs and SOPs for effectiveness and compliance.
• Complete MSHA Form 5000-23 documentation for final evaluations.
• Conduct underground escape tours for new Maintenance department employees.
• Assist with Annual Refresher Training and revise training criteria as needed.

Your New Role

• Work full-time at the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan, Idaho, supporting maintenance training in an underground mining environment.

• Develop, administer, and maintain maintenance training plans and programs covering mobile equipment, fixed plant, electrical, and mill operations.

• Deliver classroom, initial, task, equipment, and underground equipment training for maintenance employees and new hires.

• Partner with Maintenance Foremen and Supervisors to identify training needs and develop trainers for maintenance tasks and equipment.

• Develop and oversee a train-the-trainer program using salaried and hourly employees for peer training.

• Evaluate trainer effectiveness and make recommendations regarding trainer participation.

• Build training schedules for new employees and ensure required training areas are adequately covered.

• Create training outlines, instructional materials, and supporting documentation as needed.

• Help ensure consistent training for maintenance tasks and equipment.

• Track completed equipment training, required retraining, new equipment task training, and equipment usage observations.

• Maintain the training matrix and coordinate required retraining.

• Audit training documentation and field practices for compliance and effectiveness.

• Complete task training identified in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standards, and Policies.

• Audit training programs, processes, and SOPs for effectiveness.

• Update training procedures as equipment and tasks change.

• Write and revise SOPs, Standards, and Policies following the Management of Change (MOC) process.

• Perform risk assessments when preparing or revising SOPs, Standards, and Policies.

• Maintain accurate training documentation, including sign-in sheets, training time, and training matrix updates.

• Review training documentation for compliance with applicable requirements.

• Complete MSHA Form 5000-23 documentation for final evaluations.

• Conduct underground escape tours for new Maintenance department employees.

• Follow up on task training requests and coordinate scheduling.

• Assist with Annual Refresher Training, including developing training criteria and delivering instruction.
