Job summary

ASRC Federal Field Services is seeking a Trades Helper at Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center, NY to support operations and maintenance tasks across electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades. Candidates will assist higher-level trades and perform painting, repairs, and routine inspections in a biocontainment setting.

Eligibility requires HS Diploma or GED with experience in crafts, and ability to operate forklifts, tractors, mowers, and light/medium trucks.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Operate forklifts, tractors, mowers, light and medium weight trucks.
• General experience in crafts such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair & maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to operations and maintenance functions at research facility.
• Work alongside higher-level tradesmen or independently on maintenance tasks including electrical, mechanical or plumbing.
• Building maintenance and repair such as painting and simple repairs.
• Assist in repairs and maintenance of facility equipment and general facility maintenance; perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment structures.
• Operate equipment as assigned and directed.
• Perform building maintenance inspection tours.
• Organize, assemble and deliver tools and supplies for maintenance tasks to work site.
