Job summary

Zeeland Farm Services, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, repair, and replace plant equipment to maximize production and quality. The role involves following the maintenance plan, coordinating with operations, and adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

The position includes 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday with alternating on-call nights and weekends, supporting ethanol and by-product operations and ensuring compliance with company standards.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required; related technical field preferred.
• Experience: maintenance and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility preferred.
• Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Participates in maintenance plan and procedures to ensure ethanol and by-products production meets quality standards.
• Repairs or replaces plant equipment on scheduled or emergency basis and assists with troubleshooting.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as required.
• Coordinates maintenance with operations to minimize downtime.
• Assists with new installations and other projects as directed by supervisor.
• Maintains a clean, safe workstation and complies with all safety regulations.
• Communicates with operations to coordinate repair work and ensure safety.

Job description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in the established maintenance plan and compliance with procedures for maintaining high standards of ethanol and by-products operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
• Repairs or replaces plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis. Assists with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as required.
• Communicates directly with operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
• Assists with new installations and other projects, as requested by the supervisor.
• Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs. Works in a safe manner at all times.
• Knows and understands city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment, and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times.
• Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
• Assist all other employees and departments as required for efficient plant operation.
• Capable of performing and learning new industrial equipment mechanical repairs and basic electrical repairs.
• Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

• Education: High School or Equivalent required, and related technical field, certificate, or diploma from a trade school in related field, preferred.
• Experience: In-depth knowledge of maintenance and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility, preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to complete a respiratory fit test (initially, then annually).
• Able to work with heights up to and including 225 feet.
• Able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to work in areas subject to loud noise levels, odor, and airborne particles.
