Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Production Operations by maintaining and repairing plant equipment, including air compressors, stamping presses and production support gear.

This Weekend shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM) role is based in Columbus, OH. You will troubleshoot, install, integrate, and service equipment, read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, manage work orders and PMs, and mentor other technicians while upholding our

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
• 3 years’ related maintenance technician experience and/or training.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment; read mechanical drawings.
• Ability to size electrical circuits and read electrical schematics.
• Strong math, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Dependability and ability to meet production schedules.

Position Overview

The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to support Production Operations by maintaining and repairing all aspects of plant equipment. This role supports plant infrastructure such as air compressors, stamping presses, production support equipment, etc. The position is Weekend shift hours; Friday – Sunday (6:00AM – 6:30PM).

What You’ll Be Doing (% of Time)

• Repair, install, troubleshoot, start-up, and provide technical maintenance on all existing and new plant/facility equipment.
• Integrate existing and new equipment, as needed.
• Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot machines and equipment.
• Communicate technical issues to maintenance, facilities and operations management. (60%)
• Perform maintenance needs of the plant as needed. (25%)
• Manage the day-to-day activities of work orders (WOs) and preventive maintenance (PMs) to technicians. (10%)
• Training and mentoring technicians. Educate fellow peers on any additional skills to improve the department and best practice sharing. (5%)

Desired Skills and Experience

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
• 3 years’ related maintenance technician experience and/or training.
• Mechanical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment and read/interpret mechanical drawings.
• Electrical Skills: Able to size electrical circuits (wire, disconnects, conduit, etc.) and perform new installations. Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Accountability/Dependability: Ability to show up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Ability to meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.
• Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing and regularly twist and bend in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

Work Environment

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

Pay

Pay $24.09 - $40.48 / hour + $3.50 shift differential
