Job Overview

This position performs mechanical repairs on all City-owned vehicles and equipment, including major brake repairs, engine and transmission overhauls, tune-ups, and other repairs to ensure safety and functionality. Responsibilities include inspecting and diagnosing problems, planning work procedures, maintaining tools, diagnosing electrical wiring issues, and installing emergency equipment on Police, Fire, and City vehicles. The role requires maintaining a clean work environment, attending educational workshops, and holding necessary licenses and certifications.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school, two years of related experience, or equivalent
• Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record
• Own tools required
• PREFERRED: ASE certifications in Engine Repair, Electronics, and at least one additional ASE certification; Fire Fighting apparatus experience; Valid Texas Class "B" Driver's License
