Job summary

RADCO in Charlotte is seeking a Maintenance Technician who takes pride in quality work and can troubleshoot a range of building systems. This role supports multifamily communities with preventive maintenance, repairs, and timely service requests.

The position requires on-call availability, strong safety awareness, and excellent communication with residents and team members. You will use your HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills to keep properties well maintained and compliant.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in multi-family
  • HVAC/EPA Type I and II or Universal refrigerant recycling cert required
  • CPO certification is preferred and valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the property is well kept and address safety concerns immediately
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by supervisor
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical and appliance systems
  • Handle on-call service requests with prompt response and after-hours coverage
  • Communicate clearly with residents and teammates; support moving and storage tasks as needed

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in multi-family
  • HVAC/EPA certifications Type I and II or Universal for refrigerant recycling is required
  • CPO certification is preferred
  • Possess proven knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, appliance repairs, roofing repairs, and other general maintenance skills
  • Possess strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented and exhibits pride in quality of work
  • Takes initiative and self-motivated to complete tasks at hand
  • Must be available to work nights, holidays, and weekends, as scheduled for on-call service requests
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local Fair Housing laws, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Team members may be required to use their personal vehicle for business-related purposes, including obtaining parts, supplies, equipment, or responding to operational needs when a company vehicle or golf cart is unavailable. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with company policy.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure the property is always well kept and maintained and immediately address any safety concerns
  • Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on all appropriate equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and the Property Manager
  • Diagnose and perform minor or routine maintenance or repair, to include HVAC troubleshooting and pool maintenance, if applicable
  • Remove and transfer appliances and equipment to/from storage area to apartment as circumstances warrant and assist in moving abandoned furniture, appliances, etc. to dumpster
  • Complete all service requests within 24 hours, unless the request requires extraordinary parts or labor
  • Perform on-call emergency service requests when scheduled. When on call, emergency after-hours calls will require an immediate response and arrival at the property no more than an hour after the call is received. On call bonus incentives will be provided
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, prospects, and visitors
  • Demonstrate RADCO’s value of Caring by treating residents, vendors, coworkers, and supervisors with respect and professionalism

  • May be required to transport appliances, equipment, supplies, tools, and maintenance materials throughout the community and to other designated locations as needed.
  • Travel may be required within the local market area. Such travel may include, but is not limited to, purchasing emergency parts or equipment, traveling throughout the community when golf carts are unavailable, participating in training, etc. Ownership of a personal vehicle is not a requirement for this position. RADCO encourages carpooling and the use of shared transportation whenever practical.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires constant movement including considerable use of arms and legs, movement of the entire body such as climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and handling of materials. Considerable time is spent using hands to handle, operate, activate, inspect, place, detect control or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • May be required to work atop of buildings or on roofs, as needed
  • Must be able to carry, move, transport, position, install, remove, or continuously lift weight up to 75 lbs.
  • Worker must be able to ascend/descend ladders. Worker must be able to meet a ladder duty rating up to Type IAA (Extra Heavy Duty) of 375 lbs. Total weight consideration includes employee weight, weight of clothing and PPE, weight of tools and supplies carried, and the weight of tools and supplies stored on the ladder
