Job summary

AIR Communities is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for The Avalyn in Chula Vista, CA. You will join a maintenance team dedicated to delivering world-class resident services and maintaining high-quality apartment homes.

Expect an hourly rate of $25–$27 with a 15% target bonus, plus benefits like rent discount, insurance options, and career growth opportunities. The role supports on-site resident experiences and requires two years of hands-on multifamily maintenance experience.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in multifamily housing, facilities maintenance, commercial properties, hospitality, or related environment.
  • Hands-on experience in two or more skilled trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, carpentry, general building maintenance).
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities with emphasis on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to residents and team members.
  • Complete apartment turns to create an exceptional move-in experience.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, and general maintenance issues.
  • Complete service requests efficiently with emphasis on quality workmanship and resident satisfaction.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and support community upkeep.
  • Assist with move-in and move-out inspections.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure quality standards.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule for emergency maintenance needs.

What You Will Do

What You Have
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in multifamily housing, facilities maintenance, commercial properties, hospitality, or a related environment
  • Hands‑on experience in at least two skilled trades, such as plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, carpentry, or general building maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities, with a commitment to quality and safety
  • Flexibility to support community needs, including evenings, weekends, rotating on‑call responsibilities, and seasonal business demands
  • Reliable transportation to respond to emergency service requests during on‑call shifts
  • Ability to safely perform physical work, including moving equipment, tools, and materials as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

What You Need To Know
