ONE Gas in Austin, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician Specialist for Auto Repair to perform complex installation, maintenance, and repair of fleet vehicles and CNG equipment. You will work on internal combustion, diesel engines, and CNG systems in a busy shop environment.

The role requires high safety standards, the ability to read manuals, and mentoring junior mechanics in CNG conversions and installations.

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Experience with hand and power tools and automotive repair.
CNG vehicle conversion experience or training.
Installation, maintenance and repair of CNG refueling equipment.
Electronics knowledge and ability to read manuals/schematics.
Familiarity with safety policies and procedures.
Ability to read/interpret work orders and blueprints.
Fluent reading/writing in English.

Job Description

Perform complex installation, maintenance, and repair of Fleet vehicles and equipment. Perform Level 1 maintenance on compressed natural gas (CNG) compression stations.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Preform a complex level of mechanical work on company vehicles and special equipment including but not limited to:
- Internal combustion, diesel, and natural gas-powered engines
- Heavy operating equipment
- Generators and electric motors
- CNG vehicles and equipment
- Welding and fabrication
Refueling/compressor stations (commercial and home units)
Electronic safety control systems, fuel dispensers, and sequential and priority panels
Mentor and provide guidance to fleet mechanics in CNG vehicle conversion/installation, maintenance, and repair.
Monitor, track, and order parts and supplies as needed to ensure the materials needed for repairs and/or vehicle maintenance are available, and repairs can be completed accurately and timely.
Maintain the safety and organization of the work environment by ensuring the garage and service bay areas are kept clean and clear of debris and/or safety hazards.
Maintain and/or prepare reports and/or records including but not limited to:
- Maintenance records, work orders, and reports
- Engine/equipment maintenance and repairs
- Pressure readings
- Material and supply orders
- Asset Inspections
- Expense reports
- Mileage reports
- Time sheets
Schedule appointments for maintenance, troubleshooting issues, repairs, and installs as needed.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

High School Diploma required.

Experience

Experience in use and function of hand and power tools and applicable equipment.
Experience and training relative to:
- Automotive engine repair
- Compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle conversion
- Installation, maintenance, and repair of CNG refueling equipment
- Electronics
- Company and governmental operating/safety policies and procedures
- Maintaining job schedules/priorities
Experience with the application of basic arithmetic:
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Application of decimals and percentages.
- Converts natural gas volumes to liquid capacities.
Experience in reading and interpreting governmental codes and standards, work repair orders, blueprints, schematics, dials, gauges, equipment specifications, warranties, wiring diagrams, and vehicle and equipment manuals.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Licenses and Certifications

CDL Driver’s license required; with Hazmat preferred

State Alternative Fuel Technician License (CNG), Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) L1, L2, L3, and Master Certification A1-A9 (Maintained), and Compressor Level 1 Maintenance License.

Vocational/Technical School Training or Apprenticeship in Auto Repair

Additional Requirements

Lift, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 20 25 times a day; up to 20 pounds 3 5 times a day; up to 30 pounds 3 5 times a day; up to 40 pounds 3 5 times a day; over 50 pounds 3 5 times a day.
Drive for extended periods.
React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
Able to operate tools and equipment required.
Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction including use of car telephone and company radio.
Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
Availability for on call rotation outside of normal operating hours.

Available for outlying area visits for maintenance and repair needs.
