Job summary

PepsiCo’s PBNA facility in Hawaii (Aiea) seeks a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to repair and install production equipment and to perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specs. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and document activities using your own hand tools in a high-heat/noise environment.

Weekend and holiday work may be required; strong reading skills for manuals and drawings are essential, along with teamwork and safe operation under GMP standards.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older
• Pass technical assessment addressing job‑critical maintenance knowledge areas
• Experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
• Experience reading and applying product manuals for repairs
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing issues)
• Experience reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)

• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment
• Repair all production equipment as needed

• Perform general housekeeping
• Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology
• Work with outside contractors on assigned line
• Change line for package changeovers

Position is responsible for repairing and installing production/manufacturing equipment, inspecting equipment for proper functioning, and performing preventive maintenance per manufacturer specifications. The role requires diagnosing equipment malfunctions and executing repairs or adjustments as needed. Must have own hand tools. The position involves continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals and requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Weekend and/or holiday work may be required.

• Electronics (level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs)
• Gearing and gearboxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining)
• Hydraulic systems (high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting)
• Kinematics (line speed/sprocket size ratios)
• Packaging/high‑speed production (bottling, consumer products)
• PLC (industrial maintenance, computer control systems)
• Pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, troubleshooting)
• Pneumatics/air compression (valves, cylinders)
• Preventive maintenance (computerized charts/data)
• Pumps (troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs)
• Schematics (electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays)
• Servo (intelligent/robotic motors, in‑coders)
• Troubleshooting (diagnostics, problem solving)
• Team‑based environments (collaboration with others)
