West Liberty Foods is seeking a Raw/Cutup Maintenance Technician in West Liberty, IA. The role maintains and repairs machinery and automated systems, reading schematics and supporting production operations.

The position requires 2+ years in a mechanical field, familiarity with PLCs, Vision Systems, and CMMS, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts. A related associates degree is preferred and U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting preferred.
• Ability to read prints/schematics/drawings.
• Must read/write English and communicate data.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships available.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance and routine tasks; promptly resolve mechanical issues.
• Diagnose automated equipment, interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, refer to manuals for repairs.
• Conduct visual inspections and test performance on machinery; operate lifts and material handling equipment safely.
• Adhere to occupational safety standards and participate in the HAZMAT team.

Hourly Wage Range: $23.00 to $30.00+ per hour depending on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking an individual who enjoys hands‑on work and troubleshooting equipment issues. The Maintenance technician supports production operations by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing machinery, automated systems, and mechanical and basic electrical components.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily preventive maintenance, complete routine tasks, and promptly resolve mechanical issues.
• Automated Systems & Technical Documentation: Diagnose automated equipment, interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, and refer to technical manuals for repairs.
• Inspection & Operations: Conduct visual inspections and performance testing on machinery while safely operating lifts and material handling equipment.
• Safety & Emergency Response: Adhere to all occupational safety standards, manage work hazards effectively, and serve as an active member of the HAZMAT team.
• Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑paced work environment and fulfill additional duties as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Schedule: Work 12 hour shifts, 7 of 14 days each two week pay period. Sample schedule is as follows:
  • Week 1: Work Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday; Off Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
  • Week 2: Work Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday; Off Sunday, Monday Thursday, Friday
  • May be asked to work additional shifts as needed.
• Experience: Working on automated (PLC's, Vision Systems) equipment, Textor/Weber/Multivac equipment, 480V, pneumatics is preferred. Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus. Ability to read prints/schematics/drawings. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical field in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. Must have computer skills to communicate and process data, preferred experience with CMMS, L2L, Google Suite.
• Knowledge: This position does require candidates to read and write English with the ability to comprehend basic maintenance manuals. Basic knowledge of hydraulics, troubleshooting including mechanical and electrical/electronic, PLCs, welding/fabrication, AC/DC controls, motor controls, 3 phase wiring, plumbing, conveyors, pneumatic systems and more.
• Age: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
• Education: Associates Degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred.
• Physical Abilities:
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including above the head and below the waist.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and do work on aerial work platforms as needed.
• Environmental: Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
• Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime as needed. Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
• Compliance: Must practice good personal hygiene. Candidates must successfully pass a post‑offer/pre‑employment drug test, background screen, physical and E‑Verify.
