Job summary

Byrnes Property Management Group in Oxford, MA is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to handle routine repairs, preventive care, unit turnovers, and emergency maintenance across residential and commercial properties. This field-based role requires cross-trade skills across mechanical, electrical, and carpentry work.

You will travel between properties daily in Central Massachusetts, with some assignments in Connecticut.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of maintenance/handyman experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of general home repairs and building systems.
• Must supply basic hand tools.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable smartphone for communication and time tracking.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs and maintenance work orders across properties.
• Conduct unit turnovers with cleaning prep, lock changes, flooring, painting, and fixture updates.
• Keep properties clean inside and out, including trash and debris removal.
• Install and remove real estate signs as needed.
• Handle seasonal tasks like shoveling, plowing, salting, storm prep, and mowing.

Full-Time | $28-$33/hour | Benefits | Paid Time Off

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with some occasional evening and weekend hours

Byrnes Property Management Group is looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician responsible for handling routine repairs, preventive care, unit turnover, and emergency maintenance across residential and commercial properties. This role ensures that properties are well-maintained, and in compliance with all regulations while providing exceptional service to landlords and tenants. The ideal candidate combines cross-trade skills across mechanical, electrical, and structural systems with precision needed for fast-paced property maintenance. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

This is a field-based role with daily travel between properties. Primarily in Central Massachusetts, with some locations in Connecticut and other parts of Massachusetts. If you take pride in good work and can handle a variety of repairs, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Complete repairs and maintenance work orders across our properties
• Handle general repairs, including:
  • Basic plumbing (leaks, clogs, fixture replacements)
  • Basic electrical (outlets, switches, lighting)
  • Carpentry (doors, trim, drywall repairs)
  • Appliance troubleshooting
  • Painting, patchwork, and cosmetic repairs
• Conduct unit turnovers, including full cleaning prep, lock changes, flooring, painting, and fixture updates
• Keep properties clean inside and out, including trash and debris removal
• Install and remove real estate signs as needed
• Handle seasonal tasks like shoveling, plowing, salting, storm prep, and mowing

What We're Looking For

• 1-3 years of maintenance, handyman, or similar experience (preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of general home repairs and building systems
• Must supply basic hand tools
• Valid driver's license and reliable
• Must have a reliable smartphone for communication and time tracking
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather
• A dependable self-starter who can handle the job independently in the field
• Available for occasional evening and weekend work
