Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Facility Mechanic to monitor and maintain plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and forklifts. The role requires responding to failures and completing repairs to keep operations safe and efficient.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, assessing third-party repairs, and improving equipment performance. A strong grasp of OSHA regulations and safe work practices is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Three or more years of mechanical experience.
• Must have own tools appropriate for position.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends to support operations.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs in accordance with Company Safety and OSHA requirements.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections; diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components (balers, conveyors, motors, etc.).
• Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and advise leadership if additional work is needed.
• Inspects the quality of third-party repairs or rebuilds.
• Recommends measures to improve production, equipment performance and product quality.
• Safely operates tools and equipment needed during repairs and servicing.
• Diagnoses defects and repairs a variety of equipment.
• Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
