Smurfit Westrock in Devens, MA is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Technician for the 5 pm–5 am shift. You will keep equipment running to OEM standards, partnering with leadership, operators and vendors to maximize uptime. This nonunion facility offers stability and growth.

Starting pay ranges from $30 to $40 per hour with benefits from day one, weekly pay, and overtime opportunities. This role requires device and mechanical know-how, safety discipline, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• 2+ years in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair of large industrial equipment; 5+ years preferred.
• Fireman’s License in MA or willingness to obtain at company expense.
• Electrical knowledge and hands-on experience with industrial control systems including PLCs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in corrugated packaging or similar high-volume manufacturing is preferred.

Must be able to work 3rd Shift - 5 pm - 5 am

Overtime: Must be able to work daily and weekend overtime

Pay: $30 - $40 an hour plus shift differential

The Opportunity

As an Industrial maintenance mechanic or technician for our corrugated packaging plant, you will work to keep our equipment up and running to OEM standards. You will use your expertise and experience to work with maintenance leadership, our operators & vendors to ensure maximum uptime and help us safely meet our production goals. Devens is a nonunion facility.

How You Will Help Us

• Follow all safety rules and practices
• Depending on your level, provide electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive and emergency maintenance for our fast-paced corrugated packaging facility
• As priorities demand, performing emergency breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations including preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
• Our more senior team members are expected to help train peers and junior team members on skillsets you can share

What You Will Need To Succeed

• Depending on your career level, a successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics on high speed, high volume industrial equipment.
• Critical skillset is troubleshooting and repairing DC Electrical Controls.
• The ability to reference equipment manuals.
• Strong understanding and application of precision maintenance
• Willingness to maintain clean and organized work areas and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks
• May operate forklifts, hoists, and other heavy equipment
• Strong knowledge of maintenance work order systems
• Strong Computer Skills & willingness to update parts inventories, work orders and work instructions on a daily basis
• Strong understanding of 5S
• A willingness to take advantage of our company paid, best in class training and development

Education And Work Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience (5+ years preferred) in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of large industrial equipment, including PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics
• A valid Fireman’s License in the Commonwealth of MA, or the willingness to obtain one at company expense
• Mechanics must demonstrate the ability to properly select, maintain, and install power transmission equipment, gearboxes, mechanical drives, and fluid drive systems with precision
• Technicians must have electrical knowledge and hands‑on experience with industrial control systems, including PLCs (trouble shooting) and related components
• Excellent communication skills with a strong team‑oriented mindset
• Experience in corrugated packaging or a similar high‑volume, non‑redundant manufacturing environment is highly preferred

The starting rate is $30 - $40 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
