Job summary

Under Armour, Inc. is seeking a Distribution House Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot on conveyor systems and material handling equipment.

Under the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor, you will help achieve department goals, contribute to safety, and uphold Under Armour’s core competencies. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; 6 months warehouse experience preferred.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems, warehouse control systems, Excel, running reports.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, mechanical blueprints, and PLC ladder logic.
  • 2-3 years industrial plant maintenance technician experience preferred.
  • Excellent proven safety record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report unsafe conditions.
  • Repair and maintain conveyors and related components including motors, sensors, scanners.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls using drawings, documentation, and tools.
  • Determine parts requirements, retrieve and stock parts, submit reorder requests.
  • Perform routine PMs and document all maintenance activities.
  • Understand PLCs, BMS, CMMS, and Vision Systems.
  • Ensure safety systems function properly on all machines.

Job description

As a Distribution House Maintenance Technician, you will be performing routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and related material handling equipment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor, the technician will strive to fulfill the Maintenance Department objectives and goals by completing daily tasks which ensure equipment reliability and longevity. This involves contributing to a safety culture and demonstrating Under Armour’s Core Competencies.

Your Impact
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment and reports any unsafe working conditions or equipment.
  • Proficient in the repair and maintenance of all types of conveyors, including replacement of motors, reducers, scanners, sensors and all other components used in the assigned area.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical controls (motor circuits, process or packaging machinery, and programmable controllers) using drawings, documentation, and required tools.
  • Determines parts requirements and availability. Retrieves parts, maintains parts/stock area and submits requests to reorder. Determines reasonable substitutions for parts that are unavailable.
  • Performs routine maintenance of systems based on machine preventative maintenance (PM) requirements. Maintains accurate record of all PM activities.
  • Some understanding of PLC’s, Building Management Systems, CMMS, and Vision Systems.
  • Ensures that all safety systems are functioning properly on all machines.
Qualifications
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience or equivalent vocational training.
  • Excellent proven safety record.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, mechanical blueprints, and PLC ladder logic.
  • Able to operate or be trained on all MEWP, PIT and Utility Carts.
Computer Skills
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Working knowledge of Maintenance Connection is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS).
Other Skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; 6 months warehouse experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems; warehouse control systems, Excel, running reports and interpreting and communicating data/metrics.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; ability to follow detailed instructions both written and verbally; ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures; ability to apply concepts of basic math. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 2-3 years industrial plant maintenance technician experience, comparable to level 1 or 2, preferred.
REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The essential functions of the job are usually performed indoors and may rarely be performed outdoors, including during both hot and cold weather. Work performed will be near or involving moving mechanical equipment. Work may be performed at heights of up to 50 feet.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, climb, and stoop. Employee may be required to sit and perform computer-based work occasionally.
  • The ability to frequently lift items weighing an average of 25 to 50 pounds throughout a full shift of work.
  • Must be comfortable working from heights, (i.e., ladders, boom and scissor lifts).
  • Frequent or continuous standing, lifting, walking and bending.
  • Regularly handles objects, tools, and/or controls; reaches with arms; uses cutting device to open or break down cartons.
  • May frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds overhead.
  • Vision abilities depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
Workplace Location

Location: Must reside within commuting distance of the Sparrows Point, MD facility.
Schedule: Monday- Thursday, 5:00pm- 3:30am

Base Compensation

$25.50- $31.90 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
