The role involves troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis to keep production and facility equipment running safely and reliably.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical capability with some electrical/controls familiarity, and can work across crafts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and facility equipment.

• Perform preventive maintenance during planned outages.
• Respond to emergency equipment failures and restore safe operation.

About The Role

CBC is recruiting a multi-craft Maintenance Technician / Millwright for an established manufacturer in the Richmond, Virginia area. This hands-on role supports production and facility equipment through troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and root-cause problem solving. The strongest candidates will bring solid mechanical capability and enough electrical and controls familiarity to work effectively in a multi-craft environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and facility equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues and complete repairs safely and effectively.
• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled repair work during planned equipment outages.
• Respond to emergency and unscheduled equipment failures and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
• Read manuals, schematics, diagrams, and work orders to diagnose equipment problems and perform service.
• Use hand and power tools, meters, and material-handling equipment to complete maintenance work.
• Perform root-cause failure analysis to correct recurring problems rather than only treating symptoms.
• Support contractor coordination, facility maintenance, and other production-support needs as required. Schedule:
• Night shift is typically 2:30 PM-11:00 PM.
• At least 40 hours per week.
• Approximately one Saturday per month is expected, with additional Saturdays possible based on business needs.
• This role remains on call to support employees scheduled in the facility. Compensation:
• $30-$38/hour, based on experience.
• Guaranteed $1.25/hour night-shift differential while assigned to night shift, increasing to $2.00/hour after two years.
• Annual bonus opportunity at company discretion.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting background with practical hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial equipment experience.
• Working electrical and PLC understanding is helpful. The position is intended for candidates who can grow across multiple crafts.
• Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience preferred. Candidates with varying experience levels may be considered when the underlying mechanical aptitude is strong.
• High school diploma/GED plus relevant apprenticeship, technical training, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform work requiring standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and working around industrial equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production-support team. Preferred:
• Journeyman Millwright experience or credential.
• Pneumatic or hydraulic certifications.
• Pipefitting and/or TIG, MIG, or stick welding experience. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. A one-time transition payment may be available for qualified candidates who relocate to the Richmond area.
