Job summary

Alvarado Care Center is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to implement required maintenance procedures in a safe environment for residents. You will perform routine repairs, coordinate with nursing staff, and handle on-call duties as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (maintenance apprenticeship preferred), physical fitness, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Experience in plumbing, carpentry, and painting is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Maintenance apprenticeship desirable.
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective communication with others.

Responsibilities

• Repair walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, mirrors, windows and fixtures.
• Move furniture to complete assignments.
• Coordinate daily maintenance with nursing during routine tasks.
• Assist in terminal cleaning of resident rooms on transfer, discharge, or death.
• Follow maintenance schedules and established policies.
• Perform routine maintenance on facility and equipment (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical).
• Submit maintenance request slips to supervisor.
• Maintain grounds and exterior areas (lights, trash, sweeping).
• Possess on-call capabilities including weekends/holidays.
• Handle unscheduled or emergency maintenance as directed.
