Job summary

Carlisle Companies is seeking a Maintenance Technician III at the Prospect, CT plant to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, execute capital projects, and support safe, reliable production. This onsite role requires hands-on expertise and independent work to meet scheduling and quality goals.

Expect a 40-hour week with 8–10 hour shifts, occasional overtime, and weekend hours. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, OSHA 10, 4–8 years of related maintenance

Qualifications

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician III in our Prospect, CT Plant.

Job Summary

Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility; execute capital projects (installation, dismantling of equipment) and other various high-level maintenance tasks throughout the facility with the ability to work independently and efficiently to ensure timely production processes. Expected hours of work 40 hours a week with a varied shift schedule 8-10 hour shifts with occasional overtime and weekend hours. No travel required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to specific procedures.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Maintain PM completion rate (aligned with MaintainX expectations).
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
  • Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
  • Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Adjust, install, fabricate, and make modifications of equipment to maintain or improve safety and quality of operational conditions or equipment efficiency.
  • Comply and participate in regulatory, Carlisle, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards (PSM, safety protocols, COS)
  • Troubleshoot control systems, servo drives, motors, HMI’s and PlCs.
  • Calibrate controls instrumentation.
  • Maintain and enhance electrical and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical training and leadership to Maintenance technicians I & II as needed.
  • Articulate to vendors/engineer’s machine issue to resolve technical issues.
  • Handle and audit preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to create or improve preventative maintenance (PM) procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of measuring gauges such as tape measures.
  • Knowledge of various hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge and use of micrometers required use of digital multimeters and calipers.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes including NEMA, etc. (NFPA 70E, Arc Flash)
  • Industrial electrical AC/DC troubleshooting skills, including ability to utilize electrical instrumentation (megohmmeter).
  • Complete knowledge of all plant equipment (level III).
  • Ability to use hand& portable tools, gas and arc welder, forklift, pickup truck, testing equipment, tape measure, computer (shop floor and ERP).
  • PLC Knowledge.
Education and Experience:
  • Required:
    • Education – High School diploma or GED required or technical school.
    • Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Certification.
    • Four to eight (4-8) years related maintenance experience; relevant Technical degree or certification.
    • Previous experience in the following maintenance areas preferred: electrical, plumbing, carpentry and welding.
    • Mechanical background with rotating equipment. Hydraulic and pneumatic.
    • Obtain rigging training and certification (as needed).
    • Obtain welding certification (as needed).
Working Conditions:
  • Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
  • Exposure to hazardous mechanical, electrical and chemical substances/equipment.
  • Confined workspaces.

This is a fully onsite position. The employee is expected to be physically present at their designated work location during scheduled hours.
