The Maintenance Technician II supports FedEx Industrial Maintenance for material handling by performing preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs on material handling systems. The role involves utilizing prescribed processes related to mechanical power transmission, electrical systems, PLC/controls, welding/fabrication, and other industrial maintenance tasks. Troubleshooting component and system issues may also be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems, demonstrating competency in two or more specialty skills such as mechanical power transmission, electrical, or PLC/controls, with basic welding/fabrication skills.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical and electrical problems within the system, escalating complex issues to higher-level technicians or management.
- Adheres to safety standards, attends safety meetings and trainings, and addresses safety concerns.
- Responds to calls to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
- May troubleshoot multiple component issues and participate in smaller scope projects.
- Utilizes Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to manage data.
- Works on diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical failures with some complexity, often relying on higher-level technicians for complex issues.
- May work flexible schedules, including various shifts as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AT TECH II LEVEL
Mechanical
- Identifies causes of conveyor issues and performs repairs or replacements.
- Diagnoses power transmission failures, such as motor, gearbox, pulley, or roller issues.
- Reads and interprets mechanical drawings and manuals.
Electrical
- Uses digital multimeters to test for failed components and wiring issues.
- Tests relays and contactors to identify faulty contacts.

PLC/Controls
- Opens PLC programs offline.

- Performs MIG and stick welding in various positions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certificates in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, electrical or mechanical trades, or an associate degree preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- Four years of industrial maintenance experience, with skills in mechanical power transmission, electrical systems, PLC/controls, and welding/fabrication.

- Ability to follow procedures and interpret schematics, manuals, and specifications.
- Proficient in using EAM software and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
