Job summary

BTD Manufacturing, Inc. in the Midwest is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our metalworking operations across multiple facilities. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair equipment to minimize downtime.

You will read blueprints, fabricate parts as needed (welding, cutting, drilling), and document progress on maintenance projects. The role emphasizes safety and collaboration with the maintenance team to ensure reliable production lines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 2 years of technical training and 1 year BTD experience.
  • Or 3 years of on-the-job machine maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and buildings via preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Repair equipment per M and X work orders.
  • Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues.
  • Fabricate equipment as required (welding, cutting, drilling).
  • Submit progress reports on maintenance projects.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain equipment and building through procedures outlined in scheduled preventative maintenance work orders.
  • Repair equipment as necessary, including General repair "M" and Emergency "X" work orders.
  • Be able to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine repair problems.
  • Be able to fabricate equipment as required, including associated welding, cutting, and drilling activities.
  • Submit timely progress reports on specific maintenance projects he is in charge of and update all involved individuals.
  • Follows department procedures to enter time and components accurately on maintenance work orders.
  • Uses continuous process improvements to improve preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Be able to replace machine parts as part of repair projects.
  • Consults with the Maintenance Lead and other personnel as required in conjunction with maintenance and/or repair projects.
  • Be able to provide required tool assortment for position within 30 days of Tech 2 status. List will be provided.
  • Must follow BTD safety policies, including the wearing of proper PPE at all times when on duty.
  • Participates in other organized activities, committees, etc. within BTD.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A high school diploma (or equivalent) plus at least two years of related technical training and one year of on-the-job BTD experience, or t hree years of on-the-job experience in the machine maintenance field.

Experience and Skills Required
  • Considerable knowledge of troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, practices, and tools used in electronic and manufacturing maintenance, including reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Considerable knowledge of related safety requirements, including proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
  • Must be able to perform moderately complex manufacturing maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to operate general office equipment including maintenance-related applications on a microcomputer.
  • Must understand and follow routine oral and written instructions.
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Compensation

OTC7: $26.19 - $36.69 per hour. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors including an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(K) match, etc.
