Job summary

Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems (KUAS), a division of Kratos Defense, seeks a Maintenance Technician II to support manufacturing and facilities. The role involves fabricating, modifying, and repairing structures, welding with MIG, painting, and maintaining safety and quality records.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school education or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate PIT, MEWP, cranes and hoists.
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret specs.
  • Must demonstrate accurate basic math and use of a tape measure.
  • Ability to maintain and document maintenance records in notebooks or systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document maintenance tasks and records.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair structures and office equipment.
  • Weld using MIG techniques as required.
  • Apply paints/finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Follow safety standards and 5S workplace practices.
  • Maintain timekeeping accuracy and follow 5S and QMS procedures.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of tasks to support manufacturing including, but not limited to equipment fabrication, modification and/or repairs. May also be involved in building and facility fabrication, modification and/or maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs and documents maintenance performed and all pertinent maintenance records.
  • Constructs and repairs a variety of structures such as walls, doors/windows, stairs, roofs, bins, partitions and office equipment.
  • Ability to perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding.
  • Mixes and applies paints and other finishing coats to interior and exterior surfaces by means of brush, spray gun or roller.
  • Knows and follows effective safety standards, practices and techniques pertaining to general maintenance and construction work.
  • Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as iright-the-first-time approach.
  • Performs lockout/tagout functions in accordance with safe practices and company procedures.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel with daily activities.
  • Maintains a clean work area and ensuring strict adherence to the 5S Standards.
  • Complies with established QMS procedures.
  • Follows safety procedures and protocols.
  • Tracks daily hours worked in timekeeping system accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).i
Maintenance Technician II
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Uses spreadsheets and databases to document maintenance performed and all pertinent maintenance records.
  • Demonstrates effective troubleshooting skills and repairs on autoclaves, presses, CNC and various other types of production equipment using standard tools and test equipment.

$28.00 - $31.00 Hourly

Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
  • Must possess a valid driveris license and current motor vehicle insurance with clean motor vehicle driving record.
  • Ability to safely install a trailer hitch and tow equipment between KUAS locations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications/training to safely operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), cranes and hoists, or other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • Communicate in English both written and verbally.
  • Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the accurate use of a tape measure.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Must be able to interpret and work from industry specifications.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate around files.
Maintenance Technician II
  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • Communicate in English both written and verbally.
  • Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the accurate use of a tape measure.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Must be able to interpret and work from industry specifications.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate around files.
  • Preferably 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a facilities/maintenance role.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability of Level II duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70e) Certification
  • Experience in 120Vsingle phase - 480 3 phase electrical.
Preferred:
  • Molding experience.
  • Hydraulic press maintenance experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, grasping, stooping, kneeling, climbing.
  • Working with a variety of hand tools, power tools and other related equipment.
  • Works in non-temperature-controlled environments both indoor and outdoor.
  • Works in confined spaces.
  • May work from a variety of surfaces, level or unleveled, when performing job duties.
  • May work extended hours or weekends.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, hazardous materials and dust.
  • May require the ability to use full-face and/or half-face respirator.
  • May be required to answer emergency calls after regular work hours.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • May generate, handle, manage, transport, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 25-35% of travel is required to and from vendor locations and other KUAS offices.
