Job summary

Avery Dennison Corporation is hiring a Maintenance Technician to repair and upkeep equipment and facilities on a 7AM–7PM, 2-2-3 schedule with overtime as scheduled or on demand. The role includes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and supporting engineering in problem resolution.

Expect 12-hour shifts, potential weekends, and hourly pay from $31.37 to $41.41, depending on experience. Candidates should have a strong maintenance background and OSHA safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade school or college maintenance program certificates are required or can be acquired.
  • 5+ years of relevant maintenance experience.
  • Certifications in specialty areas as applicable or to be obtained within specified timing.
  • Good interpersonal, math, mechanical/technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and improve productivity and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and facilities per PM schedules.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs on machinery and electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, prints, and diagrams to locate trouble and implement fixes.
  • Operate and document work in MMS Agility system; maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work area following 5S and OSHA guidelines.
  • Support engineers and teams in troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions.

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the repair and upkeep of equipment and facility. Activities include both planned and predictive maintenance and breakdown repair. Typical work hours are a twelve hour, 7AM-7PM, following a 2-2-3 schedule. This position will also include overtime that is scheduled and spontaneous and may require some weekend work.

Work Schedule: 7AM-7PM, 2-2-3

Hourly Pay Range: $31.37 - $41.41/hour based on experience

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Locating and diagnosing failures, replacing defective components, and performing basic troubleshooting using standard equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Completing work orders utilizing the Agility MMS system
  • Completing PM procedures for new and existing equipment, utilizing MMS
  • Utilize confined space programs properly.
  • Maintain spare parts utilizing existing MMS
  • Repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Performing a wide variety of functions such as installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for generating, distributing, and utilizing electrical energy. Uses instruments to test circuits and replaces or installs new power, light, electronic and control circuits.
  • Troubleshooting electrical malfunctions, inspecting circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding, and testing electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Working from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Improvising acceptable fixes to get equipment running promptly.
  • Assisting engineers in diagnosing problems and suggesting corrective action.
  • Properly inspecting and maintaining shop equipment, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Preparing new machines and production equipment for operation.
  • Following a strict preventive maintenance schedule to lessen exposure to downtime related to repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe shop and production floor. Develop / adhere to 5S processes.
  • Consistently working in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.
  • Performing general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within the department/group and assists other areas as required.
  • Continuously reviewing current processes and searching out improvement methods to improve product/process
  • quality and reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process.
  • Assisting and supporting other team members in meeting department and site goals.
  • Contributing and participating in team decision making. Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • Providing support to the production team to produce superior quality materials that meet/exceed client needs. This role supports the needs of manufacturing and facilities to ensure both are in top working order.
  • Painting structures, performing masonry work, repairing plumbing fixtures and woodwork.
  • Repairing, assisting in repairing or overseeing contracted personnel on heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
  • Performing or supervising janitorial services and grounds maintenance such as landscaping, lawn care and snow removal.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • trade school / college maintenance program certificates
  • min. 5 years previous experience required
  • Certifications in specialty areas are required as applicable. Or acquire within specified timing any licensures necessary to perform the job.
  • Good interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude, mechanical/technical skills and aptitude and logical problem solving skills necessary.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a highly participatory work system.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and timely manner.
  • Must be motivated towards productivity improvements, safety and quality awareness.
  • PC software familiarity with MS Office applications / Google applications
  • Experience/ability with AutoCAD, a plus
  • Knowledge of relay logic, DC drives and PLC systems a plus
