Job description

Assists Supervisor and facilities staff as assigned with facility operations of all owned and leased Catholic Charities properties to ensure resident and staff safety.

Performs work functions in a variety of building trade areas, including some custodial duties such as room turns. Responsible for on-call duties evenings and holidays as scheduled.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician II will complete assigned preventive and reactive maintenance repairs, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, and other equipment, systems, or structures. Ensures repairs and maintenance are performed on all equipment and facilities. Responds to spills and other emergency situations, performing necessary tasks, and assists in emergencies as needed.

  • Day/Shift: First shift, 8 am - 9 am start. Sunday through Thursday, Tuesday through Saturday, or Thursday through Monday.
  • Pay: $29/hour - $36/hour

The listed pay is the salary range for this position. Specific offers will vary based on education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and market data alignment.

Essential Functions
  • Respond to work orders and perform necessary repairs to ensure and maintain a safe and high-quality living environment. Complete work orders for assigned areas, assist with grounds maintenance, perform preventive and routine maintenance on all building equipment, and conduct scheduled maintenance inspections.
  • Purchase supplies as needed, avoiding overstocking, and ensure supplies are available timely at the lowest possible cost.
  • Provide on-call coverage for Catholic Charities Facilities Management as scheduled.
  • Repair basic electrical and plumbing devices to ensure all are in good working order.
  • Be environmentally conscientious by ensuring items disposed are not recyclable, and report hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Assist with or complete unit turnovers (room packups), remove and secure resident belongings for storage and release upon authorized staff request, and prepare units for new tenants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency plus three (3) years of experience in building maintenance; a graduate of a building maintenance/trade program is preferred.
  • Special Low Pressure Boiler License required; ability to obtain a 2nd Class C Boiler License is preferred.
  • HVAC experience required.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, and building safety regulations.
  • Skills in prioritizing and organizing work requests.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Must supply a set of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional to frequent basis.
  • Experience in snow removal and lawn care is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills desired.
