Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a Maintenance Technician II in Madison, GA to support production equipment and facilities. The role centers on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems while providing technical leadership within the maintenance team.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in maintenance with 3+ years in manufacturing maintenance, knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, and experience with up to 460 volts AC/DC.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Maintenance or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Experience with Electrical DC and AC up to 460 volts is required.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors, and production machines.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing equipment and using measuring tools.
  • Remove and replace defective components using tools and hoists.
  • Read ladder logic and control wiring diagrams.
  • Design electrical wiring changes to improve equipment operation.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty PLC cards and servo/VFD systems.

JOB SUMMARY:

Primarily be responsible for providing a high level of troubleshooting, problem solving and repair for all production equipment and facilities, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery. Provides technical leadership to others in the maintenance department and other departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive and/or predictive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective devices by dismantling, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Reads and understands ladder logic and control wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrates excellent electrical troubleshooting skills using multimeter while following all applicable safety standards.
  • Designs and performs electrical control wiring changes and improvements to enhance equipment operation.
  • Uses PLC/computer programs to trouble shoot equipment. Diagnose and replace faulty PLC cards and processors.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty electrical servo and VFD drive and motor systems.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

Associates degree in Maintenance or related field preferred.

Experience:

3 + years of relevant experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.

Working knowledge of production equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, etc.)

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose all aspects of electrical controls, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment problems.

Experience with Electrical DC and AC up to 460 volts is required.

Basic safety knowledge through attention to detail.

Experience with Allen Bradley PLC’s is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Any associated licenses are a plus.

Computer Skills:

Strong experience with Microsoft office products.

Mathematical Abilities:

Ability to read, convert and understand fractions, decimals, millimeters, centimeters, feet and inches.

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Effective analytical and communication skills (written and oral).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, operate equipment such as scissor lifts

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing/production shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, hot and cold temperatures.
  • Use proper PPE as required per company policy
