Responsibilities
  • Safely perform emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure.
  • Respond to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an unplanned production line breakdown.
  • Utilize manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner, contributing to productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Clean up maintenance and work areas where repairs are performed.
  • Use company equipment and tools safely and prudently; ensure a safe work environment by following Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies; inform the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Planner when supplies need replenishment and provide ordering information.
  • Use the Work Order system for entering and completing work orders as directed.
  • Report to the Maintenance Leadman or Production Supervisor during off-shifts and weekends.
  • Understand and comply with the fundamental principles of the Quality and Environmental Management System at BCP.
  • Communicate daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in problem resolution and achieve company goals.
Environmental Impacts

The Maintenance department must avoid environmental impacts such as the release of gas vapors into the atmosphere; oils, grease, solvents and other chemicals into storm drains and/or soil during maintenance duties. Good housekeeping practices and spill prevention are essential. If a spill occurs, the BCP Spill Response, Log and Report Procedure must be followed. Maintenance is also responsible for recycling non-contaminated paper, metals, oils, and cardboard.

Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Industrial Mechanic and/or Electrician.

Ability to read and comprehend documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence. Ability to communicate information in small group situations to other employees.

Proficiency in basic mathematics: calculating fractions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding, follow written, oral and diagrammatic work instructions, and solve problems involving multiple variables in standard situations.

Capability to drive a forklift and use power tools.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk or hear, walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance. Capable of lifting a minimum weight of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close‑up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Occasionally near moving mechanical parts and exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat. Noise level is moderate.

Safety Responsibilities

Before initiating work, read and understand the Job Safety Analysis. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and perform tasks in compliance with BCP safety training and OSHA regulations.
