Lactalis US Yogurt, Inc. in Brattleboro, VT is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join our dairy operations. This role involves a 12-hour shift with rotating days and on-call weekend coverage for unplanned needs.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC/refrigeration, boilers, and packaging equipment, ensuring safe, sanitary operations and compliance with OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years in maintenance divisions or related position.
  • Read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with TIG welding is required.
  • Experience with pumps, valves and packaging equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and electrical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical equipment and facilities.
  • Perform emergency repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Work with production on process-related issues.
  • Disassemble/assemble machine components per manufacturer specs.
  • Operate and document maintenance activities in systems.

Lactalis US Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Maintenance Technician II based in Brattleboro VT


We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician. This is a 12hr shift with rotating days. You will be a vital part of daily operations and improvements.


Responsibilities:


  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical equipment and facilities, and aid in the manufacturing of all company products in a safe and sanitary work environment.

  • Perform emergency repairs in breakdown situations.

  • Willing to work a 5 day; split weekend shift system with weekend and night standby “on call”

  • Some overtime & weekend /”off hours” availability as needed even without forecast.

  • Perform and follow all OSHA guidelines regarding work and safety manuals

  • Ensure all programs are being upheld and documentation is current.

  • Maintain completed daily record of work performed on maintenance software.

  • Write simple correspondence, and complete manufacturing documentation completely.

  • Analyze electro/mechanical problems of dairy processing and packaging equipment, and auxiliary equipment. (Includes assisting manufacturing personnel on process related problems.)

  • Work on low and high voltage transformers, motors, motor starters, and switchgear.

  • Assist machine operators in determining when the machine should be shut down due to mechanical or electrical problems.

  • Perform established preventative maintenance procedures on plant equipment and completes appropriate paperwork.

  • Ability to disassemble and assemble all parts of machines and support equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.


Requirements:


  • Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of boiler function and operation.

  • Comprehensive metal working/machining skills

  • 3 years’ experience in maintenance divisions or experience in a related position.

  • Quickly able to troubleshoot/repair pumps, valves and packaging equipment.

  • Quickly able to provide comprehensive electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Must be able to TIG weld.

  • Knowledge of industrial 3-phase power, including AC and DC motors, relay logic and programmable control logic.

  • Knowledge of Siemens/PLC strongly preferred.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of power transmission equipment, mechanical drawings, scales, and symbols.

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing: food manufacturing a plus.

  • Prior experience in maintenance/dairy industry preferred.

  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/of ability required.



  • Working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Must be able to assess all areas of machines and support equipment in Dairy facility.

  • Be able to read basic electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic / pneumatic systems.

  • Knowledge of boiler function and operation.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance divisions or experience in a related position.

  • Ability to perform TIG welding


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
