Job summary

Astec, a global infrastructure and manufacturing company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. Our focus is safety, predictive and productive maintenance to support the site’s goals.

You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, read manuals, diagnose problems, and collaborate across departments. The role requires a high school diploma or apprenticeship, and 2+ years of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with apprenticeship or equivalent maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and HVAC skills.
• Demonstrated ability to read manuals, diagnose problems and perform repairs.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and plant equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance during machine service.
• Perform simple machinist duties and related tasks.
• Use mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Carry out regular preventive maintenance on machines and facilities.
• Read work orders and manuals to complete required maintenance.
• Diagnose issues, replace parts, and test repairs.
• Perform plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry tasks as needed.
• Operate hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment.
• Identify faulty operations and report to supervision, maintaining safety and cleanliness.
• Follow safety rules and uphold Astec values consistently.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Key Deliverables

• Respond quickly in the event of an emergency repair.


• Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.


• Repair broken or leaking plumbing.


• Maintain the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.


• Perform maintenance of electrical systems.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and the plant/facility’s equipment


• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production


• Conduct scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service


• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities


• Utilize mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines


• Execute regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities


• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to complete required maintenance and service


• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust


• Perform a variety of plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry functions


• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties


• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision


• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas


• Achieve quality results as it relates to the Company’s vision and mission


• Promote and educate others on Astec’s core values


• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times

To be successful in this role, you r experience and competencies are:

• High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience


• 2+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC


• Ethical conduct is essential.


• Demonstrated ability and initiative to achieve results is required.


• Must work well independently and with others for the purpose of achieving mutual goals.


• Technical capability and problem-solving skills are critical.


• Must be able to communicate effectively across departments to meet the needs of internal customers.

Manufacturing Environment

Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
