Job Summary:
Provides basic material handling equipment repairs. Supports all maintenance tasks throughout retail and support area environments. Resolves maintenance tasks assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on material handling equipment such as conveyor systems, forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated systems.
- Performs repairs on faulty equipment components, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and equipment specifications.
- Adheres to safety guidelines and regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Conduct safety checks on equipment and implement corrective actions as necessary to mitigate risks.
- Responds promptly to equipment breakdowns or emergencies, works efficiently to restore functionality and minimize downtime.
- Coordinates with other maintenance team members, supervisors, and operations staff to prioritize tasks, schedule maintenance activities, and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Performs mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment repairs.
- Documents all material handling equipment repairs and the usage of inventory parts.
- Records repair time confirmation in an electronic software.
- Maintains company provided tools and support equipment.
- Maintains a safe and clean maintenance work environment.
- Performs any other maintenance related tasks assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic mechanical skills required.
- Material handling equipment knowledge preferred.
- Basic hydraulic knowledge preferred.
- Basic electrical knowledge preferred.
- Ability to use knives/box cutters.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
- Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack.
- Ability to use precision hand tools.
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
- Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
- May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
- Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience required; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education.
- Completion of vocational or technical school preferred.
- Minimum of 21 years of age required.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
- Material handling equipment training preferred.
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
