Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Maintenance Technician I- Continuous Improvement to drive daily CI on the shop floor, coaching operators and supervisors and sustaining improvements across multiple departments. The role emphasizes standard work, 5S, visual management, and data-driven problem solving on the first shift (Mon-Fri 7am-4pm) with OT as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of lean concepts (5S, standard work, visual management).
• Ability to coach and influence others at all levels.
• Comfortable on the shop floor most of the time.
• Basic data collection and analysis skills (Excel, charts, KPIs).
• Prior manufacturing experience; CI or lean experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Daily Management System activity including tier meetings, KPI tracking, and escalation routines.
• Maintain and audit standard work, visual controls, and leader standard work.
• Conduct 5S audits and lead workplace organization improvements.
• Facilitate small kaizen events, rapid improvement activities, and waste elimination efforts.
• Coach operators, team leads, and supervisors on lean thinking and problem-solving.
• Support value stream improvement initiatives in alignment with HMS expectations.
• Collect, organize, and analyze process data to support improvement insights.
• Monitor sustainment of CI initiatives beyond 90 days to ensure gains persist.
• Maintain visual metrics and documentation required by HMS Bronze standards.
• Encourage operator participation in improvement ideas and problem-solving.
• Build ownership of standards and processes within assigned departments.

Maintenance Technician I- Continuous Improvement

The Maintenance Technician I- Continuous Improvement is a hands-on role responsible for driving daily execution of HMS Lean practices on the shop floor. This position supports frontline teams in maintaining standards, eliminating waste, and sustaining continuous improvement activities. The Technician will act as the operational engine of HMS deployment, ensuring stable processes, strong visual management, and daily engagement of operators and supervisors. The Technician will support each department (Press, Assembly, Hotbox, FRP, and PC) to ensure consistent coaching, follow-up, and sustainment of improvements.

First shift Monday - Friday 7am to 4pm with required OT as needed evenings and weekends

Daily Lean Execution

• Support Daily Management System activity including tier meetings, KPI tracking, and escalation routines.

• Basic data collection and analysis skills (Excel, charts, KPIs).
• Strong communication and follow-up skills.
• Prior experience in manufacturing preferred; CI or lean experience a plus.
