Job summary

Enbridge in the United States seeks a Maintenance Technician I to develop foundational skills while maintaining critical electrical and control systems across pipeline facilities.

You will monitor electrical gear, DC power, PLCs/HMIs, sensors, safety devices and perform station inspections. The role may require overtime, weekends, and travel within 30 miles of the reporting location; safety and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with two years of relevant training/experience.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training or work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work in a safety‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain electrical systems and equipment (switchgear, motors, generators, pumps, fans).
  • Maintain DC systems (batteries, chargers, rectifiers, inverters) for continuous power.
  • Support maintenance of PLCs, HMIs, and control networks with field devices.
  • Maintain and test safety systems (ESD panels, detectors, activation devices).
  • Perform station maintenance tasks and daily inspections, including overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Document abnormal conditions and reports per regulatory and company requirements.
  • Collaborate in a team, guiding contractors or less experienced staff when required.
  • Follow SOPs and O&M procedures; assist with planning and budgeting efforts.

As a Maintenance Technician I (Electrical Controls Technician I), you will develop foundational knowledge while helping to maintain critical electrical and control systems across our pipeline facilities. What You Will Do
  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain electrical systems and equipment, including switchgear, motors, generators, pumps, and fans to support reliable operations.

  • Maintain DC systems such as batteries, chargers, rectifiers, and inverters to ensure continuous power supply to station operations.

  • Support the maintenance of control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and associated control networks, along with field devices such as sensors, switches, and actuators.

  • Maintain and test safety systems including ESD panels, gas and flame detectors, and emergency activation devices to ensure compliance and safe operation.

  • Perform station maintenance activities, including but not limited to mowing, wastewater and/or environmental compliance and documentation, gas loss reporting, daily station inspections, and station operations. Responsibilities may require daily oversight and support of station activities, including weekends and extended coverage up to seven days per week.

  • Recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions, while completing accurate documentation and reports in alignment with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting coworkers and providing basic guidance to contractors or less experienced employees when required.

  • Follow all company policies, SOPs, and O&M procedures, while contributing to work planning and supporting continuous improvement and budgeting activities.

Who You Are:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of directly relevant training and experience.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training, formal education, and/or experience.

  • Communicate verbally and in writing to collect and relay basic facts.

  • Willing to assist with more complex tasks, equipment and procedures.

  • Able to work with significant independence and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

  • Proficient in the use of standard office software applications.

  • Able to work and contribute to a team environment where inclusiveness, integrity, honesty, and openness are valued.

Preferred:
  • Associate degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent education and/or experience.

  • Possesses the desire to learn and advance, as an Electrical Controls Technician.

  • Working knowledge of operations used in the maintenance of these facilities.

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily field-oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings, and documentation of required tasks dictated by the Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply.

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding activities in all types of weather conditions.

  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, shift, on call & standby, and travel overnight as required.

  • Currently resides or is willing to relocate within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Include but are not limited to Grasping, kneeling, light-moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read the fine print), hearing requirement. Mobility to walk in outdoor conditions that occasionally involve uneven and slippery terrain and to enter and exit excavations. Agility can ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and other devices using feet, legs, and/or hands and arms.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $29.25 - $33.50 per hour USD for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.

  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
