Job summary

Protolabs is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly at our Raleigh, NC facility. You will perform preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs, while collaborating with Engineering on reliability improvements.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, safe operation, and contributing to a dependable production environment with a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or relatable equipment maintenance role.
• Work schedule flexibility to adjust to maintenance scheduling with hours as outlined by manager.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to work safely in a congested environment.
• Ability to analyze data for problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance & repair on a variety of equipment, scheduling downtime and communicating to Supervisor and scheduling teams.
• Perform technical calibrations using basic measuring equipment as needed.
• Install, start-up and shut down equipment per safety procedures and use LOTO/OSHA requirements.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues following checklists.
• Assist other technicians to ensure procedures are correctly executed.
• Identify improvements in equipment reliability and work with Engineering to implement changes.
• Design and build parts to improve machine performance.
• Design and run experiments to determine root cause of build failures.
• Complete assignments given by Supervisor or Production Manager.
• Continually seek ways to improve work processes and personal performance.

Maintenance Technician I - SLS!

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be the behind-the-scenes problem solver who keeps our manufacturing operation moving. From diagnosing complex equipment issues and performing preventive maintenance to partnering with Engineering on reliability improvements, you'll have a direct impact on productivity, quality, and safety. This role offers the opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems, implement creative solutions, and help shape a more efficient and dependable production environment.

What You Will Do:

• Perform preventative maintenance & repair on a variety of support equipment and machines, scheduling and communicating and necessary machine down time to the Supervisor and scheduling teams.

• Perform technical calibrations utilizing basic measuring equipment, as necessary.

• Install, start-up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and utilize LOTO procedures where required along with following OSHA requirements

• Troubleshoot equipment issues, following any applicable checklists.

• Assist other technicians to ensure procedures are accurately being executed.

• Identify improvements in equipment reliability and functionality, partnering with Engineering to execute any changes as needed.

• Design and build parts to improve machine performance.

• Design and execute experiments to determine the root cause of build failures

• Complete assignments given by the Supervisor or Production Manager.

• Continually seek ways to improve work processes and individual performance.

What You Bring:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• 1+ years of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or relatable equipment maintenance role.

What Sets You Apart:

• Prior experience in an additive manufacturing environment.

• 2- or 4-year degree with a technical or engineering focus.

• 2+ years of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or relatable equipment maintenance role.

$24.18 - $32.26 an hour

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
