Job summary

Opportunity Matters Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician I to perform installations, repairs, and troubleshooting across electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks at client homes and facilities. The role may also cover snow removal, landscaping, painting, and vehicle/facility repairs as needed.

This position emphasizes hands-on work, safety compliance, and reliable communication with team members and supervisors to ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained environments for individuals served.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D and six months of related work experience.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems, deal with variables in situations, work independently, and interpret instructions both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Completes general maintenance and installations that may include electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
  • Installs, maintains, and makes minor repairs to appliances, equipment, vehicles or other items.
  • Installs necessary objects and equipment within Organizational facilities and vehicles when needed.
  • Paints interior and exterior Organizational facilities and Organizational property as needed.
  • Removes snow and ice at Organizational facilities when needed, using appropriate equipment; shovel, snow-plow, snow-blower, ice melt, or other required equipment.
  • Maintains Organizational facilities' landscaping, including mowing and shrubbery maintenance as needed.
  • Makes minor purchases of equipment and materials when needed.
  • Attends scheduled shifts and trainings and is punctual.
  • Complies with Organizational and supervisorial policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Reads applicable logs, notes, e-mails, memos, and checks mailbox for information and utilizes information accordingly.
  • Completes applicable documentation thoroughly and accurately.
  • Communicates Organization-relevant information among co-workers and supervisor.
  • Represents the Organization professionally within the community and Organization.
  • Respects neighbors, vendors, and individuals served and their property.
  • Follows state and federal vehicle transportation laws when operating an Organizational vehicle.
  • Performs other related duties as designated by supervisor.

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for installations, repairs, and troubleshooting that may include areas of minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Additionally is responsible for, when needed, snow removal, landscaping, painting, and repair of Organizational facilities and vehicles.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment may be slow or fast paced, depending on what is happening at the client homes and main office. This is an environment of constantly working with others. The noise level is generally moderate but can be loud depending on location and type of work being performed. Regularly required to work with or around chemicals. Work area may be wet and/or dirty. Regularly work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works under extreme weather conditions while performing outside duties year round.

  • Frequently lift and move up to 20 lbs. above shoulder height, 30 lbs. to shoulder height, 80 lbs. to waist height unaccompanied and up to 150 lbs. to waist height with team assistance.
  • Regularly sit/stand/walk for duration of shift.
  • Frequently required to stoop, climb (ladders up to 20' high), kneel, or balance on ladders, platforms and slippery surfaces.
  • Coordinated use of hands and fingers to grasp, feel objects, transfer small items from one hand to another, fine manipulation, and bilateral reach with arms.
  • Use of close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Safe Work Environment
  • Must practice safe work practices at all times and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Required to wear the appropriate PPE, including but not limited to safety eyewear, ear plugs, and enclosed shoes.
  • Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures as required for both authorized and affected users.
  • Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.
  • Participate in daily ergonomic stretches and follow all ergonomic requirements of the position.
  • Follow all personal dress requirements according to the established dress code and safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous waste
Pay and Benefits

Starting pay range for this position is $18.00-22.00/hr.
