Job summary

EMCOR Facilities Services is seeking a skilled technician to install and repair mechanical and electrical systems in industrial and building equipment. You will coordinate preventative maintenance, operate forklifts, and perform diagnostics and repairs to ensure reliability of HVAC, electrical, and related systems.

The role requires a high school diploma with extensive hands-on experience, valid driver’s license, and certifications for fork trucks and aerial lifts.

Qualifications

  • Ten (10) or more years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HS Diploma is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and applicable local licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain forklifts and related equipment.
  • Dismantle devices to access parts and replace defective components.
  • Install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings as needed.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies.

Job description

We provide comprehensive facility services ranging from mechanical maintenance and self-performed, site-based operations to energy-efficiency upgrades and supplier-managed interior/exterior maintenance.

Job Summary

Installs and repairs mechanical and electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and building equipment. Coordinate and complete preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, dock levelers, and other mechanical systems. Perform minor repairs on above systems. By performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains fork trucks
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Lubricates. Oils, and cleans equipment per manufacturing specification.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Assists in repairs of electrical equipment.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and building equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Replace electric motor bearings.
  • Replace, align, shim motors, re-build pumps and motors.
  • Assist in Plan layouts of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components of machine and building equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasking as assigned.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain, organize, and control inventory supplies tools and equipment.
  • Clean and organize shop area. Maintain inventory of spare parts and material. Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work.

  • Ten (10) or more years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Local License if applicable by local jurisdiction.
  • Fork truck and aerial lift equipment certification
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Technical Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Must be trained and certified to operate a fork truck and aerial lift
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 ponds, frequently lift and/or lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, high precarious positions: fumes or airborne particles: toxic or caustic chemicals: outside weather conditions: extreme cold: and extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
