Job summary

Oceans Healthcare in Midland, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service and repair heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems in the hospital, including boilers, turbines, pumps and generators. You will start up, regulate, shut down and repair equipment to keep systems operating efficiently and safely.

The role requires routine maintenance, meticulous records, and flexibility for off-hours work, with CPR and Oceans-approved de-escalation training preferred to ensure

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; maintenance certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions; basic math and computing skills.
  • CPR certification and de-escalation training preferred.
  • Ability to perform heavy work, climb ladders and use hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment including fans, motors, radiators, thermostats, dampers and regulation controls; replace filters and fluids as necessary; maintain routine records of repairs.
  • Performs routine manual duties such as moving supplies, equipment, removing trash, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to change and handle new requirements and challenges.
  • Practices infection control and safety techniques.
  • Maintains utilities including generator maintenance and testing, smoke purge system testing, electronics and other utilities as required.
  • Keeps facilities neat and orderly; meets training and certification responsibilities.
  • Provides security of physical plant, grounds, and campus buildings; supports risk management measures.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Job description

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining the extensive heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems in the hospital. Employee may operate boilers, air-conditioning equipment, diesel engines, turbines, pumps, condensers, generators, and compressors. Employee will start up, regulate, shut down, or repair this equipment. It is their responsibility to ensure that all of these systems are operating efficiently and safely. Routine maintenance is part of the job. Other duties may include minor welding and plumbing and electrical repairs. Must be able to work off hours.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates regular maintenance of utilities including generator maintenance with support and testing, smoke purge system with support and testing, electronics, and other utilities as required.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly environment.
  • Meets training and certification responsibilities.
  • Provides security of physical plant, grounds, and campus buildings.
  • Practices good quality assurance/risk management measures.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education / Experience

High School diploma. Maintenance certification preferred

Qualifications / Skills

Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Mathematics, computer, reasoning and language skills preferred. Must be able to perform heavy work or lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects; climb ladders; and use hand tools. Training in a related maintenance (electric, plumbing, carpentry, etc) field preferred. Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
