Job summary

Hughston is seeking a Maintenance Technician to manage day-to-day building operations and the upkeep of equipment and spaces. You will respond to requests, perform minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting and carpentry tasks, and reconfigure office spaces as needed.

The role requires at least two years of maintenance experience, with healthcare maintenance experience preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and trade schooling is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Meets with supervisor daily to discuss needs, problems and assignments.
  • Completes demand work requests and preventive maintenance work orders promptly.
  • Inspects building and structures to identify malfunctions and needed repairs; notes and recommends actions.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance (fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballast) using appropriate tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (leaks, drains, lines) as needed.
  • Performs minor HVAC maintenance (filters, belts, coils, building controls).
  • Handles minor painting, carpentry and masonry tasks (surface prep, painting, doors, locks).
  • Reconfigures and remounts modular offices and space to fit user needs using tools and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment records to ensure OSHA, CMS, NFPA compliance and similar standards.
  • Drives Hughston fleet vehicles as assigned.
  • Works flexible hours to complete projects and PMs on schedule.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and external education programs.

Job description

POSITION GOAL

Responsible for efficient day to day operations by properly maintaining the building, equipment, grounds and other physical assets of the organization.

Position Responsibilities
  • Meets with supervisor each day to discuss special needs, problems and assignments.
  • Completes all demand work request and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Inspects building and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions or needed repair, making notes and recommendations.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, light bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. repairing or replacing leaking pipes, faucets, drains, unclogging drains and toilets, trenching and laying new lines, replacing lines for ice makers, refrigerators and such appliances.
  • Perform minor HVAC maintenance (e.g. replace filters, belts, clean coils, operate building management control systems, etc.) using appropriate hand, power or specialty tools.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using a brush, roller or sprayer to apply paints, stains, varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, small wood working projects.
  • Reconfigures, installs, position and remount modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, cubicles, work surfaces, storage bins, cabinets, lighting, etc.) to accommodate user needs and utilize office space using various hand, power, specialty tools, hand trucks and dollies.
  • Maintains appropriate equipment and records to ensure compliance with regulations imposed by such agencies as OSHA, CMS, State Health Dept., AAAHC, NFPA, etc.
  • Performs driving duties of Hughston fleet vehicles as assigned.
  • Is able to work flexible hours to ensure special projects, PMs, etc. are completed on an appropriate schedule.
  • Enhances growth through departmental meetings and outside education programs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Two years of experience in maintenance or similar field required. Experience in healthcare maintenance field preferred.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade or vocational school diploma preferred

Special Qualifications

Skill with the use of precision tools, operating and cleaning equipment, repairing equipment, remodeling work areas. Able to read / interpret blueprints and other technical drawings Also requires skill in numerical calculations. Must maintain good driving record. Must be able to work flexible hours.
