Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs across appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and other community facilities. You will respond to emergencies after hours and prepare vacants to rent-ready condition.

Qualifications include 1–3 years of maintenance experience, Refrigeration Type II or Universal certification (or within 90 days), a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at

• 1-3 years maintenance experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Refrigeration certification (Type II or Universal) required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, move 300-lb items on wheels, climb 40-ft ladders, and use hand tools, test equipment, and hand trucks.
• Ability to move heavy equipment such as appliances, laundry machines, building materials, and amenity equipment (often 100-300+ lbs), including up stairs when required.

• Handle administrative and contractor tasks such as logging service requests, updating databases, and monitoring vendor performance.

• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions while performing repairs, upgrades, and resident service tasks using ladders and other equipment.
