About the Role

Based in Massachusetts, FMC Ice Sports operates 25 public ice skating arenas across the state. The role reports to the Senior Maintenance Technician and involves painting, finishing, carpentry repairs, and associated maintenance tasks across 26 locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using a range of materials (varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, waterproofing, heat‑resistant finishes).
  • Tape, flush, repair, and apply texturing, wallpaper, and acoustic layers; adjust colors as needed and deliver enhanced finishing.
  • Apply materials to new construction, existing, multi‑story buildings, alterations, and remodels.
  • Respond to graffiti and remove it using products and soda blasting.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain all painting equipment (brushes, rolls, sprayers, electrostatic sprayers, pumps) and store materials safely.
  • Maintain and repair soda blasting compressors and accessories.
  • Perform carpentry repairs and new construction.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain carpentry equipment (woodworking machines, hand tools, power tools) and store materials safely.
  • Estimate time and materials, maintain computerized records, and submit work reports and service records.
  • Select and order lumber and other required materials.
  • Erect scaffolding, rigging, and ladders in compliance with safety codes.
  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Provide assistance and advice on materials, designs, and color selections.
  • Research, purchase, and inventory equipment parts, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Assist in writing specifications for repairs and new construction.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous manner with customers, vendors, contractors, and coworkers.
  • Adhere to all FMC rules and policies, including the Mission Statement and Patron’s Creed.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Senior Maintenance Technician and Director of Operations & Maintenance.
Requirements
  • Minimum four years of directly related experience or advanced training as a painter/carpenter.
  • Minimum four years of work experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or facilities operations (interior and exterior).
  • Preferred completion of courses or certifications typically earned through trade or technical school.
  • Self‑starter who can analyze situations and develop solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of painting and carpentry practices, techniques, materials, and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Consent to a CORI/SORI background check.
Full‑time Position

Year‑round or seasonal (March–August) availability preferred.

Benefits

Compensation

​$22 – $28 per hour.
