Job summary

Van Dyk Health Care seeks an Experienced Maintenance Technician to support our multi-site senior living facilities in Hawthorne, New Jersey.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry systems, document work orders, and respond to service requests with safety and resident care at the forefront. A strong safety mindset and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience, preferably as a senior or lead technician in a multi-unit, commercial, or healthcare setting.
• Strong competency in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry, with ability to troubleshoot, repair, and complete work to code.
• Dependable, safety-first, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
• Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and ability to document work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Professional, courteous, and resident-focused communication skills.
• Preferred HVAC certification, electrical or plumbing license, and/or other trade certifications; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Use safe work practices and proper tools; coordinate with vendors when needed and verify work meets quality standards.
• Ensure adherence to applicable building codes, life-safety requirements, and regulatory standards; support inspections and corrective actions as needed.
